Favorite subject: Byakaran (performing ceremonies) and Sanskrit (ancient Indian language)

Viewpoint on the school: The teachers here are very good and very helpful – they have taught me a lot.
I want some recreational activities and thicker mattresses to sleep on in the winters as it gets too cold.

Future visions: I want to become a priest when I am older. I want to come back to this school one day and help other children as well.

Name: Yogesh Kandpal
Age: 13
Grade: 7th (came in 2006)
Background: Originates from a city called Ghaziabad and is one of 5 children in a shop keeper’s family.

Favorite subject: English and Sanskrit

Viewpoint on the school: The teachers here are very nice, learned and helpful. I am glad that I have this chance to learn and make a living in the future.
We need thicker mattresses to sleep on in the winters as it gets too cold and we need warm water for the morning bath in the winters as we today only are provided with cold water in the mornings.

Future visions: I want to become a priest when I get older. And one day I’ll come back here and help other children.

Name: Trilok Chandra Pargi
Age: 15
Grade: 8th (came in 2005)
Background: Comes from a small village called Okhalkanda and in the middle child in a priests family of 11 persons

Favorite subject: English and Sanskrit

Viewpoint on the school: The teachers here are really good and very helpful.
It would be nice to have more emphasis placed on English so we can become good in this as well.  When we are sick we are sent home, this affects our studies so we’d prefer to stay here whenever we fall sick.

Future visions: I want to become a teacher in English and Byakaran when I am older

Grade: 12th
Background: Originates from Haldwani and belongs to a priests family of 5 people

Favorite subject: I like Saihye wishye, Byakaran and English

Viewpoint on the school: The teachers here are very knowledgeable and helpful.
We need more books in the library. We should have both musical classes and physical training on the schedule as well.  It would be good if at least the younger children could be provided warm water in the mornings to bathe.

Future visions: I want to do my Phd in Sanskrit and become a teacher. One day, I want to come back to this school and help other children the way that I was helped in this school.
